Gardner statement on swearing in of 113th Congress

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Cory Gardner (R-CO) released the following statement after being sworn in as a member of the 113th Congress:

"As the 113th Congress was sworn in today we are faced with a tough road ahead of us. There is still a great amount of work to be done in order to get this economy back on track.   The President finally got his tax on millionaires and billionaires - it is high time for him to work with us on pro-growth tax reform, cutting spending, and regulatory reform.

“We have lots of opportunities to develop our domestic energy resources, and I have always believed that those jobs can drive our economic recovery. Thanks to an energy boom, our country could become the global energy powerhouse. We must not let this moment pass us by, and we must not let the administration regulate this golden opportunity out of existence.

“We must also be mindful of another important resource: water. This year, I will be introducing legislation to increase water storage because as our population grows so will the need for more water.   The West is already suffering from a brutal drought that contributed to devastating wildfires last summer. We also face the prospect of a severe water shortfall in the Colorado River in the coming decades. This is something that needs to be addressed before it is too late, and I will work tirelessly to move this issue forward.”
