VETERANS & MILITARY PERSONNEL

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrint

One of the most important duties of our government is to care for the men and women who have bravely served, and sacrificed, on behalf of our nation. However, for too long veterans and active duty personnel in Connecticut, and across the nation, have had to fight within an overburdened and underfunded system to access the benefits they earned for their service.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am deeply committed to ensuring that these men and women and their families receive the support and respect that they deserve. That is why I am working to:

  • Enact annual budgets for the Veterans Administration that ensures that those who have served have they access to the care, resources and support they have earned, as well as modernizing the bureaucracy that all too often stands in the way to these benefits.

  • Help our newest veterans transitioning from their service in Iraq and Afghanistan with the job training, education and opportunity they need to succeed as they return to civilian life.

  • Address longstanding challenges like veterans homelessness, access to transportation and unemployment though direct coordinated work with local and regional veterans organizations.

  • Ensure that our military families and spouses have the support they need as their loved ones face long deployments abroad.
