“I always give God the glory. I never question why things happen the way they do. I know God is in control of my life, and I also know, if nothing else, that I’m standing on the Rock.” Texas Longhorn QB Colt McCoy
    About
  1. Two Democratic Senators (who voted for ObamaCare) are now fighting to repeal an ObamaCare Tax that they say will cost the country thousands of jobs. Sure would have been nice for you to have said something when the bill was still in Congress...
  2. Democrats "adopt(ed) a deliberate strategy to slow-walk Republicans to the edge of the fiscal cliff in a belief that mounting pressure from within the GOP will force conservatives to fold on tax hikes." (Don't let them get away with this, help me spread the word of their irresponsible tactics!)
  3. An interesting reminder from the New York Times that President Obama has already raised taxes on the wealthy. The President's argument has nothing to do with raising revenue to pay down the debt, but have everything to do with dividing Americans and growing the size of government.
  4. As we pause to remember the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, we are reminded of all those who have died in defense of freedom. We are eternally grateful for all of those who have served, and reaffirm our commitment to honor the promises made to all of our veterans and their families. The anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack is also a sobering reminder that we must remain vigilant in protecting our nation and its people from those who seek to extinguish the torch of freedom. May God bless all who have served in our military, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.
  5. Thank you to our panelists, Mike Patterson, Bill Caster, Tom Allen and Melody Lutz, for helping out with our Academy nomination interviews. Good luck to all those interviewing with my office today!

  6. Senator DeMint has been a conservative champion and a dedicated public servant to the nation. Jim has always been someone I’ve admired, and I’m proud to call him a friend. Jim’s leadership and voice will be deeply missed in the United State...
s Senate and in South Carolina. I’m excited for him as he begins his new role with the Heritage Foundation, and grateful that he’s continuing the fight in other ways. http://tinyurl.com/ccrcomg

  7. Unfortunately, when there's a stalemate between us and the President sometimes the best venue to continue the fight is in the courts. The House has stopped the President from making most recess appointments, but last January he overstepped his bounds and made some appointments anyway. Looks like the court is poised to rule in the GOP’s favor that this move was unconstitutional.
  8. Today, Chairman Doc Hastings announced the 113th Congress assignments for the House Natural Resources Committee. I am honored to continue to be a member of this committee and I look forward to working with my colleagues on Natural Resources on ways to move our country towards American energy independence.
  9. Happy 110th Birthday to Sen. Strom Thurmond. There will never be another one like him.

  11. If the President and Democrats want to take tax rates back to what they were during President Clinton's term - I have this to say:

What about taking spending levels for government back to where they were during the Clinton Administration?
  12. President Obama doesn't want to raise taxes to pay down the debt. He wants higher taxes so he can spend more money. It's that simple, and why the only way to solve our debt problem is through spending cuts.
  13. Happy Anniversary to my beautiful bride of 24 years! I love you, Melody Duncan!

  16. This tweet was sent to me today: "Please vote to raise taxes on the rich. Good schools, smooth streets, nice parks...sounds good to me!" This is exactly why raising taxes won't solve the debt crisis. More revenue just encourages more government spending. You actually have to cut spending to solve a spending problem!
  17. According to the Washington Post, Sec. Geithner delivered President Obama's offer to Congress on the fiscal cliff yesterday. The President offered $1.6 trillion in new taxes, $50 billion in another government stimulus, and an infinite increase in the debt ceiling. No real spending cuts, no balanced approach, no real solutions to our debt crisis. Just more games.
  18. Excellent point to consider when discussing the "fiscal cliff." The tax increases that President Obama wants will result in around $83 BILLION in new revenue annually. We currently run a yearly deficit of around $1 TRILLION, we're $16.3 TRILLION in debt, and have $86 TRILLION in future liabilities from Social Security, ObamaCare, and Medicare. Tax increases won't solve this problem.
  19. You can add a "balanced approached" to debt reduction on the list of broken promises from President Obama. He's obsessing over raising taxes and is opposing meaningful spending cuts. I'm sorry Mr. President, but if you think I'm going along with that plan, I have ocean front property to sell you in Arizona.
  20. The Administration is allowing the issue of Ambassador Susan Rice's comments, which misled the American people weeks before the election, to distract America about the real issues of Benghazi......our Sovereign territory was violated, four Americans were murdered - including the President's own envoy - Ambassador Stevens.....a brave former NAVY SEAL was killed "painting" a target with a laser iden...
tifier for an air asset which never came....foreign service personnel and intelligence personnel raised concern about their safety long before the attacks....forces were ordered to "stand down" during the attack....the Consulate perimeter was bombed - creating a large breach in the security fence - one month prior to 9/11/12....We were the "last man standing" in Benghazi after the French, the British and the Red Cross all had left....what was Ambassador Stevens doing in Benghazi the night of the attack? Especially with all of the security concerns.....
But as important as all of that: The Administration continued to mislead the American people with blatantly false statements about the reason of the attack just weeks before the Presidential election in order to convince Americans that his administration had terrorism (Al Qaeda) on the run.......

Let's keep our eye on the ball...

  21. Press is still coming in from the letter I sent to President Obama last week. I found this write up in the Wall Street Journal particularly interesting.
  22. It all comes down to credibility. Do we want someone as secretary of state that is somehow tainted in this Benghazi issue?
  23. Look for me tomorrow morning at 7:15am on Fox & Friends where I'll be discussing the Benghazi situation, and why it makes Ambassador Rice unfit to be our next Secretary of State.
  24. On Tuesday Night aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, I had just finished my personal prayer while lying in my rack in the stateroom provided for me.....when it was time for TAPS and "Lights Out" when I heard the following which gave me hope for America.....

    Good Evening IKE.
As another day comes to an end, let us all take a moment to bow our heads, give thanks, reflect on what is past, and look ...
forward to that which is yet to come.

Let us Pray: Lord of Heaven and Earth, we give you thanks for this day, and as we look forward to the coming of a new day, we trust that you have the very best in mind for us, and pray that your gentle hand will guide our steps, and your wisdom guide out thoughts.
There are many who are concerned over what the future may hold, and we ask that you speak peace to our hearts; quiet our minds that we might hear the gentle whisper of your voice as you speak to us and to our loved ones, regardless of what may come. All that any of us can be certain of is this very moment in which we live, so let us leave the future in your hands, and trust that you will chart our course safely through whatever storms we may encounter in the days and weeks to come, until we once again reach the safe harbor of home.
And now Lord, grant rest to those who sleep, stand beside those who stand the watch through the night, lending them your strength, and renew our hope with the dawn of a new day.
    AMEN.
    GOOD NIGHT IKE
