Youth Advisory Council

The Third District Youth Advisory Council is a forum for high school juniors and seniors to discuss opinions, thoughts, and concerns with Congressman Smith about local and federal issues throughout the school year. This group provides youth the opportunity to discuss the concerns of young Nebraskans, while also offering a forum for Congressman Smith to receive their input on issues facing the federal government.

Membership is open to high school students who are:

  • Seniors and juniors
  • Willing to serve for one year (June to June)
  • Who have submitted an application for consideration

The Youth Advisory Council meets monthly through in-person meetings, facebook forums, and conference calls. Students are expected to actively participate in discussions and meetings. Applications are accepted in April and May.

For more information about the Youth Advisory Council, or to request an application for the 2012-2013 school year, interested students and educators should contact Congressman Smith’s Grand Island office at 308-384-3900. An application can be downloaded below.
