Last week, the 113^th Congress was sworn in and I began my seventh term in the House of Representatives.

As your Congressman, I will continue to focus my efforts on policies that spur economic growth, job creation and prosperity. The federal government’s out-of-control spending has led us down a dangerous and unsustainable economic path. Washington cannot continue to spend more than it takes in, nor can it tax its way into fiscal balance. Make no mistake about it – this is an emergency situation that requires bold leadership and tough decisions.

San Diego and Orange County residents see everyday how Washington is failing them. My position as Chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has given me a tremendous opportunity to work on your behalf to expose government failures and to fight for a reform agenda that will end wasteful spending and the mismanagement of your taxpayer dollars. You deserve to know that the money Washington takes from you is well spent and that your government is efficient, effective, and works for you.

I am truly honored and grateful that the people of the 49^th Congressional District have given me the opportunity to continue my service.
