Wicker, Cochran Announce $200,000 for Tippah County

Friday, July 11, 2008

WASHINGTON – The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has approved a $200,000 grant for Tippah County to make improvements to an access road serving an industrial area in the county, U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran said.  The ARC funds will be used to construct and improve approximately one-quarter of a mile of State Highway 4, which is located at the entrance of the industrial area.

“These funds represent an investment in Tippah County’s infrastructure that will help support new jobs and economic growth in the county,” Sen. Roger Wicker said.

The industrial area is located in the Mitchell community approximately six miles east of Ripley in Tippah County.  The Tippah County Board of Supervisors will administer the grant.

In addition to the ARC grant, The State of Mississippi will provide $272,171 and Tippah County will contribute $55,470 to the project with an estimated total project cost of $527,641.
