Senator Wicker on Oil Well Reaching Static Condition

Thursday, August 5, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement regarding the announcement that BP has successfully reached a static condition on its oil well:

“This news is a step in the right direction. After more than 100 days since the catastrophe in the Gulf began, I am glad to hear that the static kill operation has worked and the response team has been able to stem the flow of oil. I am hopeful the permanent solution through the relief well will be realized soon.  Despite the great news today, the work is far from over in the Gulf. The damage caused by BP’s oil spill will impact our communities, economy, and way of life long after the leak is contained. It is my hope that we will see success with the relief well in the coming days so we can turn our focus on recovering and rebuilding from this disaster.”
