Wicker Speaks on the Senate Floor Regarding Urgent Need for a Budget

WASHINGTON, DC -- Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) today spoke on the Senate Floor regarding the urgent need for a budget. The Democrat-controlled Senate has not passed a budget in over three years, even though it is required by law.

In part, Wicker said: "Last month, we passed the three-year mark -- now more than 1,100 days -- since Senate Democrats fulfilled one of the basic obligations of this legislative body and passed a federal budget."

In part, Wicker said, "Families, businesses, and organizations in my home state of Mississippi and across the country know the importance of having a sensible budget and living within it. Likewise, taxpayers deserve to see a blueprint of where their money is going and how much will be spent. Washington must be held accountable."
