Blue Dog Coalition
The Blue Dog Coalition formed following the 1994 election debacle for Democrats. The founding Members chose the name Blue Dog Coalition because they literally felt “choked blue by the extremes in both parties." Currently, there are 26 members of the fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition in the 112th Congress.
Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus
The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) is comprised of Members of Congress of Asian and Pacific Islander descent and members who have a strong dedication to promoting the well-being of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Since 1994, CAPAC has been addressing the needs of the AAPI community in all areas of American life.
Congressional Black Caucus
Forty years ago the Congressional Black Caucus was founded “to positively influence the course of events pertinent to African Americans and others of similar experience and situation.” In the years since, we have earned the moniker “the conscience of the congress” because of our unyielding commitment to our communities and our country. We know that our mission is to help our country become a more perfect union. The Congressional Black Caucus leads on each and every issue with intelligence, commitment and power, yet continues to be the voice of the voiceless.
Congressional Progressive Caucus
The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) is comprised of 83 members and is the largest caucus within the Democratic Caucus. Established in 1991, the CPC reflects the diversity and strength of the American people and seeks to give voice to the needs and aspirations of all Americans and to build a more just and humane society. The CPC is guided by “The Progressive Promise”, which is rooted in four core principles: (1) Fighting for economic justice and security for all; (2) Protecting and preserving our civil rights and civil liberties; (3) Promoting global peace and security; and (4) Advancing environmental protection and energy independence.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) was founded in December 1976 as a legislative service organization of the United States House of Representatives. Today, the CHC is organized as a Congressional Member organization, governed under the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The CHC aims to address national and international issues and the impact these policies have on the Hispanic community. The function of the Caucus is to serve as a forum for the Hispanic Members of Congress to coalesce around a collective legislative agenda. The Caucus is dedicated to voicing and advancing, through the legislative process, issues affecting Hispanics in the United States and Puerto Rico.
New Democrat Coalition
Founded in 1997, the New Democrat Coalition (NDC or "New Dems") provides moderate, pro-growth Members of Congress with the opportunity to advance a common sense policy agenda to move our country in the right direction. New Democrats have built a reputation as the "go-to" group in Congress on the critical issues of economic growth, national security, personal responsibility, and technology development.
Hailing from every region of the country, New Democrats are intent on modernizing both the Democratic Party and the country. New Democrats support policies to expand economic growth and ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to benefit from that growth; a fiscally responsible and efficient government; a secure homefront; and a robust foreign policy that includes trade, constructive U.S. leadership throughout the world, and a modern and strong military..
Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC)
The Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) is an active, focused, and effective voice in the House of Representatives advocating for policies that promote domestic clean energy innovation and job creation, protection of our nation’s clean air, water and natural environment, and policies to address and combat global climate change.
SEEC is co-chaired by Reps. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Steve Israel (D-NY). Since being formed in January 2009, at the start of the 111th United States Congress, it has been at the forefront in advancing policies that will allow America to take control of its energy policy and create a prosperous and independent clean energy future.
