  5. Less than one year after suffering an ischemic stroke, Senator Mark Kirk returned to Washington and climbed all 45 steps to the Capitol Building.

    His advice to others who are affected by a stroke: "Never, ever give up."

    At approximately 9:45 AM, the Senate will conduct 2 votes, including passage of H.R. 5949.

    The Senate will then resume consideration of H.R. 1, the vehicle for the supplemental appropriations bill, and will conduct up to 23 votes, including passage of H.R. 1.
  15. The House of Representatives has passed bills to prevent a massive tax hike on all Americans, replace the sequester with responsible spending cuts, and meaningfully address our nation's ballooning national debt.

    It's time for Senate Democrats to act.
