Vitter Applauds Supreme Court Second Amendment Ruling

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Sen. David Vitter today applauded the Supreme Court’s ruling guaranteeing that the constitutional right to bear arms cannot be restricted by laws at the state level.

“Today’s common-sense decision was a huge victory for the Second Amendment rights of all Americans,” said Vitter. “The Constitution guarantees every law-abiding American the right to own firearms, and that’s a right that no government at any level should be able to take away. As the Senate considers the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, I hope my colleagues will be paying close attention to her record to determine whether she would rule in line with the Constitution or whether she would legislate from the bench.”
