Louisiana is world renown for our seafood. Seafood producers are vital to our way of life and our economy, so ensuring our seafood industries remain viable means that jobs and Louisiana's culture can be maintained.
I am actively working on several important issues to benefit Louisiana fishermen and seafood producers, including:
Requiring seafood imports from foreign coutnries to comply with the same safety standards domestic seafood producers have to follow.
Stopping "port shopping" by seafood importers attempting to avoid safety tests or bring in seafood rejected as unsafe at another port.
Enforcing our trade laws to stop illegal dumping of seafood products and to collect billions of dollars in unpaid duties on seafood products from China and other countries.
Supporting marketing programs that help promote sales of Louisiana seafood.
