U.S. Flag Part of 120-Year Celebration in Canyon County

Flag flown over the U.S. Capitol traveling the county, marking events

Caldwell – Canyon County Commissioners have found an innovative way to mark the county’s 120-year anniversary, all while keeping the event on the minds of county residents throughout the year.

Commissioners David Ferdinand, Kathy Alder and Steven Rule coordinated with Idaho Senator Mike Crapo to have a U.S. flag flown over the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., in honor of Canyon County’s anniversary. The flag, now in Idaho, has been flown throughout the year at a number of county events and in all of the county’s eight cities.

“The federal government would do well to recognize and emulate what Idaho and Canyon County stand for—freedom, making a living from the land, traditional values, hard work and patriotism,” Crapo said. “Canyon County has a history that features outstanding examples of entrepreneurship, cultural assimilation and political leadership. The county’s 120 years of success are a model for all Idahoans, and I salute county residents, industry and leaders.”
