Brown Announces New Resources To Improve Wastewater Treatment In Perry County
USDA Rural Development Grant Will Help the Village of New Straitsville Secure New Energy Backup Generator
WASHINGTON, D.C. – New federal resources will help build and improve the water system in Perry County. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Village of New Straitsville will receive a community facility grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development to purchase an emergency backup generator for New Straitsville’s wastewater treatment plant.
“Water infrastructure is critical to economic competiveness,” Brown said. “While all Ohioans deserve access to clean water, too many communities are struggling to afford costly, but necessary, equipment and upgrades to water systems. These new resources will help the Village of New Straitsville afford to maintain its wastewater infrastructure and provide clean water to Ohioans in Perry County.”
USDA Rural Development has approved a $69,000 grant for the Village of New Straitsville.
Brown, Chair of the Subcommittee on Jobs, Rural Economic Growth, and Energy Innovation, has held more than 200 roundtables throughout the state, and is the first Ohioan to serve on both the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry and the Senate Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee.
