    The Senate has passed a bipartisan resolution I cosponsored which calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Alan Gross from imprisonment in Cuba.     Congratulations to Sen. Jim DeMint on being named the next president of the Heritage Foundation. In eight years, he has personally led the effort to change the composition of the Senate for the better, and provided consistent and principled leadership in the fight for liberty and limited government. This bipartisan bill requires the Transportation Security Administration to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs and local charities to distribute unclaimed clothing left at airport security to homeless and needy vets and their families.

    I’ve cosponsored two bipartisan amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act to help prevent sexual harassment and assault in our armed forces. The first would require a comprehensive Defense Department plan of prevention and response. The second would require the department to include in its annual report on sexual assault the types of disciplinary action imposed.
