Promoting Energy Independence

Ensuring America has a comprehensive energy policy is vital to our national security, economy and environment.  As a nation, we consume nearly 9.7 million barrels, or roughly 406 million gallons, of foreign oil each day.

Unfortunately, we continue to rely on foreign sources of energy -- often from unstable regions of the world -- to meet America’s needs, but we must find ways to increase domestic production and conservation.

While renewable energy sources are not yet able to offset conventional sources of energy, I strongly believe that we must continue to appropriately invest in these alternative energy sources.
