Housing

Owning your own home is part of the American Dream, yet tens of thousands of low-income families are unable to achieve that dream because of the upfront costs of buying a home.  For many families, the biggest barrier to homeownership is their inability to afford the down payment and closing costs on a house.  It is vital that we remove the obstacles that prevent low-income families from homeownership, such as down payment assistance.

Today, more than two-thirds of all Americans own their own home.  Homeownership benefits families and communities.  It provides a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, and homeowners are often more active in community affairs.  I am committed to helping more families realize the American Dream.
