RENACCI APPOINTED TO HOUSE BUDGET COMMITTEE

Washington, DC — Today, Chairman Paul Ryan (WI-1) announced that U.S. Representative Jim Renacci (OH-16) has been appointed to serve on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Budget.

“It is an honor to be appointed to one of the most influential committees in Congress,” said Rep. Renacci. “Chairman Ryan is a master of the budget process and an innovative leader in the significant challenges we face in fixing America’s broken finances. As a businessman, I look forward to learning more about how the House develops its budget and to offering common sense solutions from the private sector on how we can begin to right our fiscal ship.”

“I want to welcome Rep. Jim Renacci to the House Budget Committee,” said Chairman Ryan. “Jim’s expertise as a Certified Public Accountant and his extensive private-sector experience will be invaluable as we work together to get Washington’s spending under control. He understands firsthand the harmful impact of Washington’s misguided policies on families, small business and workers. I look forward to working with Jim and I appreciate the unique perspective he will bring to the committee.”

The Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 provides for the annual adoption of a concurrent resolution on the budget as the vehicle for setting aggregate levels of spending, revenue, the surplus or deficit, and public debt. The Budget Act also established standing committees in both chambers of Congress with jurisdiction over, among other things, the concurrent resolution on the budget. The House Committee on the Budget fulfills that role in the Lower Chamber.

Rep. Renacci will continue to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services, where he is currently the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit.

Rep. Renacci is serving his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to his election he worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the health care industry, and owned and operated over 60 other businesses in the automotive and sports management fields.
