About Jim

A 28 year resident of Ohio’s 16th district, Congressman Renacci has dedicated his life to his family and his community. Jim was born December 3, 1958 to a working class family in western Pennsylvania—his father was a railroad worker and his mother was a nurse. Raised in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, Jim was the first in his family to graduate college, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1980.  Soon after graduation from college, he became a Certified Public Accountant and later moved to Wadsworth, Ohio.

After working as an accountant in the health care industry for several years, in 1985 Jim formed  LTC Management Services—a company that owned, operated and managed nursing facilities throughout Ohio. While operating LTC, Jim also founded a CPA firm in 1989, among several other business ventures. Throughout the course of his 30 year business career, Jim owned and operated over 60 businesses, created more than 1,500 jobs and employed over 3,000 people.

In addition to his work in the business sector, Jim amassed a long record of commitment to public service. Shortly after moving to Wadsworth, he served as a volunteer firefighter for four years. From 1993-1994, he  served on the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals and beginning in 1999, Jim served two consecutive terms as President of Wadsworth’s City Council. Upon being elected Mayor of Wadsworth in 2004, Jim worked diligently to balance Wadsworth’s $80 million budget and converted the city’s multi-million dollar deficit into a surplus, without raising taxes.

In November 2010, Jim was elected to the 112th Congress as the Representative from Ohio’s 16th district. He currently sits on the Financial Services Committee, where he is Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. He resides in Wadsworth, OH with his wife of 28 years, Tina. Together they have raised three children, all of whom are now in college or graduate school.
