      Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What if I cannot get reservation for any of the tours I requested? Does this mean I will not be able to see these attractions?

A: Most of the tours available through your congressional office, offer public tours as well. For more information on public tours visit the links listed below:

Q: What if my tour is denied?

A: The Visitors Office processes and selects tour requests on a first-come, first-served basis. If you tour was denied, we recommend submitting requests further in advance in order to maximize the possibility of receiving the slots you request. Please note that security information is not processed until after the tour is approved-a tour will never be denied because one individual does not pass a U.S. Secret Service background check.

Q: What if I miss my Capitol tour? Can I reschedule?

A: If you miss your Capitol tour, please come to our Office. We are located in Cannon, room 130. We will be able to set your group up with a different tour time.

Q: I requested 3 months in advance, how come I was not able to get a tour of the White House?

A: Due to the high volume of requests received by all 435 members of congress, the White House Visitors Center is not able to accommodate every request. This is why it is important to request as early as possible.

Q: When will I hear back about my White House tour request?

A: The White House Visitors Center approves or denies tour requests about two weeks prior to the travel date.

Q: How much time should I allow to travel through security in the Capitol?

A: Allow about 60 minutes to travel through Capitol security.

Q: How can I keep my younger children interested in the White House tour?

A:  Allow your child to become a junior park ranger by then end of their tour. Click here for more information.

Q: After we submit information online, can we add more people?

A: No. Once information is submitted, no changes can be made.
