Sen. Brown Congratulates Loveland High School For Earning National Green Ribbon Award

Loveland High Named “U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School” for Excellence in Promoting a Healthy School Environment

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A local high school was named a 2012 Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education today. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) congratulated Loveland High School, which is one of 78 schools in 29 states schools nationwide to receive this new award.

“Loveland High School administrators, teachers, parents – and especially students – are working to improve our environment. I am proud that Ohio is home to one of the first-ever Green Ribbon Schools,” Brown said. “Schools that work to reduce environment-related health issues are doing their part to provide students with an environment where learning is the primary focus.”

Loveland High School is a four-year secondary school serving Loveland, Symmes Township, and Miami Township.

According to the Department of Education, the Green Ribbon Award is a federal recognition program that honors schools that take a comprehensive approach to creating “green” environments by reducing environmental impact, promoting health, and ensuring outdoor education opportunities.
