Sen. Brown Announces More Than $929K for the Findlay Fire Department

Funding will Help Hire and Retain Firefighters in Hancock County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that $929,278 has been awarded to the Findlay Fire Department by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS). The funds, awarded through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program (SAFER), will be used to improve Ohio’s ability to respond to fire and fire-related hazards.

“First responders put their lives on the line every day across Ohio,” said Brown.  “These funds will help ensure that the Findlay Fire Department has the adequate staffing they need to protect our communities.”

SAFER grants bolster fire departments' ability to respond to fires and fire-related hazards, along with their overall level of preparedness. These funds can be used for recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters and hiring firefighters. The funds provide for salaries, benefits, and general equipment needs.
