Brown Announces Federal Resources For Renewable Energy Development In Butler County

USDA Rural Development Grant will Install Solar Power System at Winelco, Inc. in West Chester

WASHINGTON, D.C. – New resources have been awarded to a business in Butler County to install a new solar power system.  U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that a Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Grant of $103,629 has been awarded to Winelco, Inc. from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development agency. The grant will allow Winelco, Inc. to install a 90-kilowatt photo voltaic solar power system that will generate 97,570 kilowatt hours annually.

“Businesses and manufacturers in Ohio are leading the way when it comes to the innovative use of solar energy,” Brown said. “These new resources will help Winelco make the necessary updates to maintain modern, energy-efficient operations.”

Brown, Chair of the Subcommittee on Jobs, Rural Economic Growth, and Energy Innovation, has held more 170 roundtables throughout the state, and is the first Ohioan to serve on both the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry and the Senate Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee.
