U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka gave his final speech to the Native Hawaiian Convention as a sitting U.S. Senator. Senator Akaka has spoken at every Native Hawaiian Convention since its inception in 2001, and he retires in January 2013. Akaka is Chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and is the first Native Hawaiian ever to serve in the U.S. Senate and third to serve in Congress.
