Akaka opposes Blunt amendment that would limit women's access to contraception and health services

U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-HI) spoke on the Senate floor to urge his colleagues to vote in opposition to the Blunt amendment. The amendment would not only reverse the landmark gains in women's access to contraception, health care, and preventative health services achieved by the Obama Administration under the Affordable Care Act, it would allow any employer or health plan issuer to refuse coverage of any service for any reason -- not just religious objections. It could lead to devastating health outcomes for over 20 million women across the country.
