Constituent Services - Service Academies

Academy Nominations

Each year hundreds of the best and brightest young men and women write my office to apply for an appointment to a Service Academy.  There are five Service Academies:  The United States Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Military Academy at West Point, and the Naval Academy.  Please note that nominations are required for all but the Coast Guard Academy.

Applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements and be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which include, but are not limited to, your two United States Senators and your United States Representative (you may verify other sources with the Service Academies).  You are encouraged to visit the websites for each Academy to determine their minimum entrance requirements.

Members of Congress may have no more than five people attending each service academy at any given time.  For each vacancy, ten nominations may be submitted to the respective Service Academy Admissions Office.  Offers of appointment are made by the admissions office on a competitive basis measuring the overall qualifications and eligibility of all nominees.

Students interested in a nomination must use the online Service Academy program.  Once you have created your online account, you will be able to submit your application online.  To access the online application, please click here.

Thank you for your interest in our nation’s Service Academies.  Please contact my Columbia office if you have any questions or need further information at 803-933-0112 or academy_nominations@lgraham.senate.gov.
