NOMINATIONS AND APPOINTMENTS
(Class of 2017)

Nominations will be determined using the competitive method, with all nominees submitted unranked to the Academies, allowing equal opportunity for each candidate.

If nominated, you will be notified by February 1, 2013.  Academies will then contact nominees, evaluate each, and then extend final offers of appointment.

If you are offered an appointment to a Military Service Academy, you will be notified by May 2013.

There are usually more applicants than available seats to the Academies. If you are not selected for nomination or appointment, you are encouraged to re-apply the following year. Re-applicants are often selected after an additional year of preparation.  You may also consider enlisted service, from which you may apply to an Academy.

  • YOU MUST ALSO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION PROCESS WITH EACH ACADEMY YOU ARE CONSIDERING ATTENDING.
  • TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF OBTAINING A NOMINATION, BE SURE TO APPLY TO BOTH OF YOUR SENATORS AND THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR A NOMINATION. CHECK THEIR WEBSITES FOR DETAILS.
