Jobs

Unemployment has exceed 10 percent among Californians for over three years, which is why Congressman Lungren has been focused on job creation since day one.  Among other things, in the 112th Congress he has:

  • Authored, shepherded, and seen enacted the first jobs bill of the 112th Congress signed into law by President Obama (H.R. 4) that protects small businesses from onerous 1099 tax filing requirements;
  • Responded to complaints from business owners in our district unable to respond to ADA litigation by introducing the ACCESS Act to encourage compliance with ADA requirements so that businesses are more accessible to the disabled;
  • Supported the more than 30 jobs bills passed by the House (please track the progress of these bills online at http://majorityleader.gov/JobsTracker/);
  • Consistently met with job providers in the district to stay abreast of the reality on the ground and work with them on solutions.

Congressman Lungren will continue to support measures most likely to produce a sustainable economic recovery.  This should be the primary focus of Congress.  Rather than increasing spending on programs which will increase the debt burden and ultimately lead to higher interest rates, we should be exploring ways to increase work, savings, and investment.  Putting America back to work and keeping their jobs here must be our single most important task.
