Internship Opportunities

Washington D.C. Internships
Qualifications: My Washington D.C. office offers internships for undergraduate students who have completed four semesters of undergraduate studies with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.  Interns should be able to work at least 20 hours a week.  This internship is unpaid but can be used for college credit in coordination with the student’s university.

Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible at a minimum for sorting mail, answering phones, conducting tours, and researching legislation and policy issues.  Interns with good time management skills and initiative will also have the opportunity to become involved in a wider array of legislative work particularly regarding my committee assignments.

Process: E-mail your resume, cover letter, and two writing samples to my Washington D.C. office to the attention of Sandra Wiseman.  She will contact applicants to arrange a phone interview.

Deadlines: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Gold River Internships
Qualifications: My Gold River office offers internships for high school and college students in good academic standing.  Interns should be able to work at least 8 hours a week.  This internship is unpaid but may be used for college or  school credit in coordination with the student’s academic institution.

Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for answering phones, attending the front desk and extending a friendly welcome to people who visit the office.  Other responsibilities include, in cooperation with full-time staff, sorting of mail, handling constituent correspondence and opinions, and research duties on policy issues.
