WASHINGTON – Today, House Republican Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, announced his decision to appoint Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., as the Committee on House Administration's Ranking Republican for the 111th Congress. The eight-term lawmaker from California succeeds Representative Vern Ehlers, R-Mich., who has served on the Committee in multiple capacities since 1995. Washington DC - U.S. Reps. Dan Lungren (R-CA) and Jim McGovern (D-MA) today reintroduced their "Global Security Priorities" Resolution. The resolution recognizes "the paramount need to address the threat of international terrorism and protect the international security of the United States by reducing the number of and accessibility to nuclear weapons and preventing their proliferation;" calls for directing "a portion of the resulting savings toward child survival, hunger, and universal education;" and calls "on the President to take action to achieve these goals."

A swine flu case has been confirmed in the 3rd Congressional District of California. As Dr. Richard Besser, the Acting Director of the Center for Disease Control has indicated, the presence of the flu within the United States should not be a cause for panic but rather lead us to take precautions for our protection. Washington, DC- Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA) today, voted yes for the Credit Cardholders Bill of Rights Act of 2009 (H.R. 627). The bill contains provisions which will enhance protections for the American consumer against questionable credit card billing practices. This Saturday, May 9 is the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) national food drive. Washington D.C. - Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA), member of the House Judiciary Committee, announced today that the US Coast Guard has captured another Self Propelled Semi- Submersible (SPSS) drug vessel in route to the United States. Lungren's bill changed Title 18 of the US Criminal Code to allow law enforcement to prosecute individuals who operate these maritime vessels.
