Congresswoman Brown speaks in favor of an amendment to a Homeland Security bill that would add more customs agents at airports. Airports across America are losing customers and alienating foreign visitors because of a serious lack of Customs and Border Protection officers and the major delays it causes.Orlando International Airport is a prime example of this problem.
Since 2009 OIA's international passenger traffic has grown by more than 17.0% without any increase in Customs and Border Protection personnel. The results are wait times that exceed two and sometimes three hours. With just 15 new Customs and Border Protection agents, the airport could accommodate additional flights that would create 2000 jobs and generate revenues of $360 million dollars a year.
