Rep. Marcia L. Fudge recognizes National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

Mister/Madame speaker, I rise today in recognition of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.
In America approximately 17% of our nation's children and adolescents are obese. We must work to bring awareness to childhood obesity as a national issue.
Our children are suffering as a result of this health epidemic and it is our job to ensure that they are getting the nutrition they need and deserve to reach their potential.
Without a balanced diet that includes fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains our children will not succeed.
Without physical activity and safe environments for play America's children will continue to suffer from preventable illnesses.
It is time to get involved in the well-being of EVERY child in America.
So join me as I champion Childhood Obesity Awareness this month and all year long.
