Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, M.D. (NY-19) spoke on the floor of the United States House of Representatives today regarding the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act or JOBS Act. The House Financial Services Committee Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, of which Hayworth is a member, is slated to begin oversight on the Securities and Exchange Commission's efforts to implement this key jobs legislation. This hearing is being held in conjunction with the Subcommittee on TARP, Financial Services and Bailouts of Public and Private Programs of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Transcript:
Mr. Speaker -- During our recess this past month, we held a small business roundtable in our Hudson Valley. We sat -- everybody was transfixed, all the participants -- for an hour-and-a-half talking about what our small businesses need to do and what we need to do to help our small businesses and one of the key considerations was to ease the climate for creating jobs and growing our businesses. I am so proud to have supported the JOBS Act with out Democratic and Republican colleagues and with the Senate. It was signed into law, as we all know, by the President in March. Tomorrow in the [House] Financial Services Committee we begin to review implementation of the JOBS Act and I hope we can continue to work together to make true progress in growing our small business and in helping them by making sure that the path is clear for them to grow and thrive and prosper. This is a great example of how both parties can work to meet that goal.
