Sen. Brown Announces New Resources To Improve Roadway In Washington County

Appalachian Regional Commission Grant Will Help Fund Improvements to Mill Creek Road in Marietta

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The City of Marietta received new federal resources to make roadway improvements. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded a $469,500 grant to the City of Marietta to widen and resurface 0.8 mile of Mill Creek Road.

“Motorists, residents, and businesses in Southeast Ohio deserve efficient and safe roads,” Brown said. “These new resources will ensure that Marietta can make the repairs needed to keep moving Ohioans and Ohio-made goods along our federal roads.”

According to the Appalachian Regional Commission, the project will provide much improved access to an industrial site serving the bio-medical industry and other businesses. The project will support the retention of more than 600 full-time jobs. Local resources will also provide $150,000 in funding.
