  1. News that manipulation of a key interest rate by Wall Street banks cost Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac more that $3 billion has Rep. Welch renewing his call for senior bank officials to go to jail for their misdeeds.

"For too long big banks ha...ve been able to dodge responsibility, pay a fine and outsource punishment for their illegal behavior to their shareholders," Welch said. "Enough is enough. If you're guilty of a crime you should serve the time. There should be no exception for senior bank officials who rigged rates to make themselves money at the expense of others."See More

Another weapons ban is not going to happen. Been there. Done that. Intellectually a lost debate for Gun Grabbers. More importantly, the people will not comply. Not this time. - I have to wonder what the political climate will be, when hundreds of funerals are taking place across the state. Thousands across the country. Of fathers. Grandfathers. Sons and daughters. Who defended their rights to serve in the peoples militia. That is what the 2A is about after all. A militia. Where semi-automatic rifles are protected. Sandy Hook will fade in memory. - http://www.examiner.com/article/obama-anti-gun-agenda-may-lead-to-domestic-crisis-warn-experts

    • Peter, As one of your constituents, I am demanding, yes DEMANDING, that you listen to the people you are representing. Stop being a liberal tool, represent the people, and OBEY the constitution. The second amendment is not a suggestion, it is not up for interpretation. The American people have the RIGHT to bears arms. If you take away that right you might as well take away the right to VOTE. You swore an OATH, Peter, to obey and uphold the Constitution. Your people deserve honesty from you. Either uphold the constitution like you have promised the people, or do the honorable thing and resign if you cannot. Signed, Billy Jones of Vermont

  14. Rep. Welch, along with Senator Patrick Leahy and Senator Bernie Sanders, announced today that Southern Vermont has received $470,000 to boost long term Irene recovery efforts. Welch, Leahy and Sanders said: “This infusion of funding will sp...eed the recovery of many southern Vermont communities still working hard to recover from Irene. Vermonters continue to pull together as neighbors and friends to support one another, but there are still many unmet needs. This investment will boost recovery efforts and strengthen the region’s long-term economic recovery as we rebound from the damage.”See More
