Brown Announces Approval Of New Federal Resources For Emergency Assistance In Vinton County
WASHINGTON, D.C. — New federal assistance is available for Vinton County recovering from high winds and severe storms this summer. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has declared Vinton County a federal emergency disaster area. Local officials and community leaders in Vinton County can apply for federal funding for emergency work, debris removal, and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by storms and winds beginning on June 29-July 2, 2012.
“This FEMA disaster designation is the right decision for Vinton County,” Brown said. “This summer’s severe storms have left many Ohio families and small businesses hurting. This federal funding is critical to Ohio’s economic recovery.”
The FEMA Public Assistance program pays 75 percent of eligible costs. Federal, state and local teams have already started to inspect disaster-related damage, examine expenses, and prepare reports of repair work needed and the estimated restoration cost.
