Congressional Art Competition

The House of Representatives annual Congressional Art Competition, first launched in 1982,  gives student artists across the country a rare and unique opportunity to share their talent with the thousands of visitors who come to our nation’s Capitol.  Each Congressional District selects one piece of student artwork, where the winning piece is then displayed in the halls of the U.S. Capitol.

In addition to the student artist's artwork displayed, the winning student is awarded two round-trip airline tickets for an opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. , meet with his or her Member of Congress, and an invitation to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the U.S. Capitol for Art Competition winners from across America.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students residing within the 4th District of Texas, and I encourage all students interested to submit their artwork.

I am pleased to announce that the 2012 winner for the 4th District of Texas is Kayla White from DeKalb, Texas, who just completed the 10th grade.

If you are interested in entering the competition for 2013, please contact Natalie Raulston in the Rockwall Office.  Information for the 2013 competition will be distributed in early January.
