Academy Nominations

As a Member of Congress, I have the opportunity to nominate qualified young men and women who reside in the 4th Congressional District for appointment to our nation's service academies.  I am assisted in making nominations by a selection board, made up of retired military officers. 

Qualifications for Academy Nominations:

All candidates seeking nominations must be U.S. citizens, at least 17 years of age, and not more than 22 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission. 

Selection for nominations is based not only on academic records, class standing, athletic ability, SAT and/or ACT scores, medical and physical aptitude tests, but also on leadership potential. 

Any person who meets these requirements has a chance to be nominated. 

Steps to Request Academy Nominations: 

A letter requesting a nomination from each Candidate will be accepted from March 1st through October 1st of the year prior to admission. Please send this letter to the Rockwall office at the address below.

After the letter is received, the Candidate will receive a packet to complete. This file must be completed and all information submitted to the Rockwall office no later than November 1st of the year prior to admission. (Keep in mind that you will need to start a file with each Academy that you wish to attend.)
