Congressional Arts Contest

Congressman Dan Burton Announces the 2012
Congressional Art Competition For Indiana’s 5th District

Each spring, a nation-wide school art competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.  The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District.

The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students.  The winners’ art from each district will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents.  Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.  All entries must be original in concept, design and execution.

The winner of this year’s competition will also receive two round trip tickets, complements of Southwest Airlines, to attend the National reception in Washington, D.C. The first, second and third place winners shall receive gift certificates from United Art and Education.

Students who wish to enter the Congressional Art Competition must follow the 2011 Art Competition Guidelines and also submit their artwork entry with a Student Release Form.  Deadline for artwork submissions is Tuesday, May 1, 2012.  Please click on the links below to print the guidelines and necessary entry forms.
