5/4/2012 Herger Statement on April Unemployment Report PDF Print

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Wally Herger (R-CA) issued the following statement regarding the latest unemployment report released by the U.S. Department of Labor. The report indicated that 115,000 jobs were created while 342,000 people dropped out of the workforce entirely:

“I am saddened by today’s jobs report. The 342,000 people that gave up on finding a job in just this past month reflects the many troubling stories of those in Northern California and across the nation who are struggling to survive after months or even years of unemployment. It also certainly does not bode well for the millions of young Americans graduating from college this month who face dim prospects in securing a job. We need an economy that grows fast enough to provide jobs for every American who needs work, but that will not happen as long as government keeps discouraging businesses from hiring. The House has passed several bills to end the regulations that are preventing job creation and to start encouraging small businesses and entrepreneurs to invest in expanding the workforce. I urge President Obama to work with us to end government interference, help the economy recover faster, and get America back to work.”
