  1. At 7.8% unemployment, the last thing the economy needs are the five new Obamacare taxes taking effect this week, thousands of new regulations and a government unwilling to put away the credit cards. It’s time to cut government spending and focus on free-market policies to spur job creation and economic growth.

Congratulations! You will probably achieve what has been your goal since you became a politician: the total destruction of the United States of America. Your weapon: hold the debt ceiling hostage. Not only will the United States of America be destroyed, but a huge part of the global economy will be decimated! Party on, Michelle. Celebrate your "victory." What a wonderful world you will leave your children, whom you supposedly love so much.

  3. Representing the people of Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District is a great honor, and I always enjoy hearing your comments and concerns. Using feedback from constituents as a guide, I recently revamped my website and moved towards an easier-to-use design. Click below to learn more about the new features and let me know what you think.
  4. As a former foster mother, I know how hard child welfare caseworkers work to adequately represent the hundreds of thousands of children in the foster care system. I am pleased that the Uninterrupted Scholars Act passed the House with overwh...elming bipartisan support. There are over 400,000 children in foster care, and this bill can help remove barriers in order to help give them every opportunity to succeed in school and in life.See More
  5. As Americans counted down to the start of the new year, they were also counting down to five new Obamacare taxes that will affect citizens of all incomes. Among the taxes that took effect yesterday is the controversial medical device tax which threatens American jobs and innovative, life-saving technology by taxing it the same way we do cigarettes and other vices.
  6. Tomorrow is the start of the 113th Congress. We’ll be welcoming new members from across the country, and saying goodbye to some familiar faces. What do you want to see Congress focus on in the next two years?
  7. Faced with an exploding national debt, now is not the time to give members of Congress an undeserved pay raise. Watch my speech earlier today in support of legislation to reject the pay increase.
  8. I introduced legislation today that would rescind President Obama’s executive order that gives members of Congress a pay raise. We have a spending problem in our country and we should be looking for areas to cut spending, not adding to the debt burden. Click LIKE if you agree.
  9. I'm excited that the Vikings made the playoffs. Congrats to the team and to Adrian Peterson for his incredible 2,000-yard season.

  11. Government spending far exceeds revenue despite tax revenue trending much higher than during the Clinton years. If we want to see Washington get back on track and give job creators the certainty they need to get Americans back to work, we need to cut back on reckless spending.

  12. On Monday, I presented Specialist 4 Stewart Brooks of Lakeland with the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism during the Vietnam War. After thirty-plus years, it was an honor to give this humble and courageous man the recognition he so richly deserves.
  13. The Obamacare 2.3% excise tax on medical devices hurts start-ups and will kill jobs. However, the biggest loser in this is the patient. Increases in taxes in the medical device industry only push innovative companies overseas, taking their life-saving ideas with them.
  14. Earlier this afternoon I spoke on the House floor to honor the late Cold Spring Police Officer Tommy Decker, who recently died in the line of duty. In honor of his service, I am proud to join with all of my Minnesota colleagues to introduce legislation to rename his hometown post office the “Officer Tommy Decker Memorial Post Office.”
  15. I will be speaking on the House floor shortly regarding legislation to honor the late Cold Spring Officer Tommy Decker. You can watch by clicking the link below:
