Washington, DC – Congressman Randy Neugebauer released the following statement Thursday regarding the immigration agreement reached in the Senate:

   “As I have said repeatedly, I am opposed to granting amnesty to those immigrants who violated our laws and entered the United States illegally.  The agreement reached in the Senate appears to do exactly that.  By allowing illegal immigrants to stay here permanently without first returning to their home country, we are sending the wrong message to all those who are waiting in line and showing respect for our laws. 

   “If this legislation comes to the House in its current form, I will oppose it.”
