Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee recommended a series of new appointments of Members of Congress to seats on key House committees in the 113th Congress.

“All Democratic Members are committed to creating jobs, strengthening the middle class, and growing the economy, whether in the committee hearing room or on the floor of the House,” Leader Pelosi said.  “With these committee assignments, these colleagues will bring wisdom, intellect, and experience to the task of meeting our goals and representing the highest aspirations of the American people.”

Each of the following Members will serve in these posts beginning in January:

Appropriations:

Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree of Maine

Energy and Commerce:

Congressman Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico
Congressman Paul Tonko of New York

Financial Services:

Congresswoman Terri Sewell of Alabama
