REP. ENGEL UNVEILS REVAMPED WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGE

Washington, D.C.--Congressman Eliot Engel has recently upgraded his official website, and has launched a Facebook page to better communicate with the people of the Bronx, Rockland and Westchester. The web address is http://engel.house.gov or www.house.gov/engel. The Facebook address is http://www.facebook.com/note.php?created&&suggest&note_id=163707741884&id=103355984852#/pages/Eliot-Engel/103355984852

“There are many new ways designed to ensure my constituents are informed as to what is happening here in Washington, and how I can better assist them. Not only is it important to have a website which is full of important information, is simple to navigate, and is equipped with the newest media innovations. Social networking websites are the latest form of communication, and I will be disseminating information to the ‘fans’ of my Facebook page on a regular basis,” said Rep. Engel.

The website has become more user friendly, making it much easier to navigate from each section and to locate information. It has better quality pictures and a section showcasing videos of Congressman Engel. In addition, constituents can have updates from the site sent to their homepage via an RSS feed. Important updates, such as information on the H1N1 virus, health care reform, affordable housing and many other government services are available with just one click.

Rep. Engel’s Facebook page recently went public and already has a couple of hundred of ‘fans.’ By becoming a ‘fan’ of the page, you are able to have updates sent directly to your Facebook News Feed. Fans are also able to add content and comment on items on the page. Simply search for “Eliot Engel” in Facebook to find his government official page and click on “become a fan.”

“I look forward to hearing from constituents via the communication tools both on the website and on my Facebook page, and will continue to look for ways to make it easier for people to be informed on what their government is doing for them,” said Rep. Engel. “Through my website you can email me, sign up for my e-newsletter updates, get help dealing with federal agencies, request a meeting and order a flag which was flown over the Capitol. On Facebook, you can receive regular updates on what is happening that day in Congress and interact with other people equally interested in the topic.”

The 11-term Congressman added, “I look forward to hearing from my constituents via these tools and hope they helpful to people who are using them.”
