REP. ENGEL PRAISES CONGRESSMAN HINCHEY'S SERVICE TO THE NATION

Washington, DC -- Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY-17) issued the following statement following the announcement that Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY-22) was going to retire following the end of his current term.

“Rep. Maurice Hinchey’s presence will be missed in Congress after he retires at the end of 2012.  He epitomizes public service at its best and has shown great courage in fighting cancer.  We have served together in both Congress and the New York State Assembly, and he has been my friend for 35 years.   He is, has been and always will be a class act.”
