REP. ENGEL ANNOUNCES GRANT FOR NEW SQUARE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT COUNCIL

Washington, D.C.--Congressman Eliot Engel announced the New Square Community Improvement Council was awarded a $58,100 Early Head Start Expansion grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The grant will be used to allow the Community Improvement Council to serve an additional 150 very low-income infants, toddlers and pregnant women and their families in the surrounding communities.

Rep. Engel said, “I am pleased to be able to support funding to help families be better able to provide for their children. The Early Head Start program has been very successful in aiding families who have no place else to turn. The program has enabled families to have quality child care, and allowed parents to work free from concern about their children’s well-being. The Community Improvement Council is doing outstanding work and I am glad to be able to do my part in helping them.”
