Washington, DC -- Congressman Eliot Engel announced that a traffic light will be installed at Bronxwood Avenue and East 221^st Street. He said the City Department of Transportation performed a study of the traffic patterns in the area and concluded a traffic light was necessary.

Rep. Engel said, “Bronxwood Avenue is highly travelled and the intersection is near a playground. I want to thank the Department of Transportation for responding to the needs of this area. In the past few years the Department installed a traffic light at Bronxwood Avenue and East 226^th Street, also in the Williamsbridge area, and Bronx Boulevard and East 236^th Street in Wakefield.”

The Transportation Department said it expects to have the traffic light installed by June 30^th.
