Decorative Art

The U.S. Capitol has many exceptional furnishings and unique objects that reflect its status as the seat of our national democracy. Yet its long history as a working office building and popular public attraction has also required the purchase of a wide range of everyday items. With over 1,000 pieces, the Senate’s Decorative Art Collection showcases some of the nation’s most important heirlooms, as well as the many everyday objects that reflect the needs of the institution and its members over the past 200 years.
