WASHINGTON EXAMINER – STEARNS BEST BET FOR GOP LEADERSHIP TO KEEP TEA PARTIERS HAPPY – HAS IMPRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE BONA FIDES

THE EXAMINER LOOKS AT POSSIBLE CHAIRS FOR ENERGY AND COMMERCE COMMITTEE

Washington, Dec 2, 2010 -

The Washington Examiner profiles the four candidates to chair the House Energy and Commerce Committee.  The op-ed summarizes the record of each and comments on their credentials. The Examiner states, “If the GOP leadership wants to keep restive Tea Partiers happy, [Stearns] might be their best bet.”

The Examiner further says, “Stearns has impressive conservative bona fides. He was one of 39 House members to receive an ‘A’ from the National Taxpayers Union, and Citizens Against Government Waste named him a ‘Taxpayer Hero’ in 2010.  Also, “If he gets the gavel, Stearns has promised to hold a series of hearings on Obamacare and to rein in the Environmental Protection Agency, two top conservative priorities.”
