VIDEO OF STEARNS QUESTIONING CEO OF BP ON OIL SPILL DURING CONGRESSIONAL HEARING

CEO UNABLE TO EXPLAIN TO STEARNS BP’S INABILITY TO STOP OIL FLOW

Washington, May 13, 2010 -

Yesterday, Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth), a senior member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, participated in an Oversight & Investigation Subcommittee hearing on the oil spill.  Stearns pointedly questioned the CEO of BP, Lamar McKay.  Stearns noted that in its application to explore the site, BP claimed that it could control a spill reaching up to 300,000 barrels a day.   McKay then answered Stearns that the current spill amounts to only 5,000 barrels a day and was unable to explain why BP could not control a spill far less than 300,000 barrels a day.
